National Harvest Festival - September 5 to October 29, 2011

   National Harvest Festival

Silver Dollar City's "National Harvest Festival," running from September 10 through October 29, is a sure sign that Fall is in the air as our beautiful Ozark Hills start to burst into their Fall colors along with one of the largest gatherings of American artists and craftsmen. The National Harvest Festival is a true celebration of American craftsmanship illustrating why Silver Dollar City is called "The Home of American Craftsmanship."

On a typical day Silver Dollar City has Master Craftsmen demonstrating a number of crafts such as glassblowing, candle making, pottery making, culinary arts and many more. During the National Harvest Festival over 130 additional visiting craftsmen from all over the country join them to demonstrate their art or craft. These range from painting to Native American flutes, knife making, pumpkin carving and the "Made In Missouri Juried Exhibit & Sale" featuring "Best of Missouri Hands Artists" and many more. It is truly a unique opportunity to experience American craftsmanship as most people have never had a chance to do.

The Festival will have a new action show the "Timberworks Lumberjack Show; a 50 ton sand sculpture; Chalk Street Artists; Chainsaw Carvers; "Birds of Prey Show," including Bald Eagles, Hawks and more; Missouri's biggest Barn Dance where you can step out on the large wooden dance floor and dance a waltz, swing dance, polka, two step or line dance to the music of a live band.

It will will feature Silver Dollar City's biggest production show ever, "Headin' West," the show that won a "Big-E" award from the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions in 2009. The 45 minute show shares the adventure of America's expansion west during the 1860s in exciting and entertaining fashion with great music, scenery and special effects.

What would a National Harvest Festival be without America's food? The "Taste of America" menu will be featured throughout the park, providing guests an opportunity to experience food from all regions of our great Nation. From "Great Northern Ham & Beans" at Lucky Silver Mine to "Wrangler's Buffalo Chili" at Lumbercamp, "Gold Rush Strawberry Pie" and much more there is not a better place to taste the "flavors of America" in one place than at the National Harvest Festival.

As is the case with all of Silver Dollar City's festivals, all of the activities involved with the Festival are in addition to everything else Silver Dollar City offers on a daily basis. The 1880's international award winning theme park features 30 rides and attractions encompassing everything from "Wildfire," a world class multi-looping roller coaster that reaches speeds up to 66 miles per hour to their new $1 million "Half Dollar Holler" designed for kids through age 7 and some of the best live shows and entertainment available in Branson.

An Old Time Christmas Festival - November 5 to December 30, 2011

   An Old Time Christmas Festival

Holiday Magic Starts at the Square!

The traditional celebration of Christmas is an inherent part of "Ozark Mountain Christmas" and nowhere is that more evident than at Silver Dollar City's "An Old Time Christmas" celebrated from November 5 through December 30. It is an award winning spectacle filled with millions of sparkling lights, great shows, excitement, fun and pageantry that was named as one of the top Christmas destinations in America by both CNN.Com and ABC's "Good Morning America."

An Old Time Christmas transforms the 1880s-style theme park into a glowing Christmas extravaganza with over four million lights sparkling throughout the park. The focal point of the celebration is in Silver Dollar City's square, which is the setting for "Christmas on Main Street," one of the biggest and most spectacular light shows ever.

Its centerpiece is a 5-Story Special Effects Christmas Tree. It comes to life each day at dusk playing Christmas music such as "Carol of the Bells, "Joy to the World," "Suite from Polar Express" and more as its many colored Christmas lights sparkle, twinkle and dance along with the one million lights covering the surrounding City square area. The "Gifts of Christmas Holiday Light Parade," with over 100,000 lights, passes through the park and City Square twice each evening, if the weather permits, and is a breathtaking sight when combined with the lights of the tree and surrounding square.

As spectacular as the Christmas lights and Light Parade are, they are only part of the joy, excitement and fun that is An Old Time Christmas. There is a variety of shows including, the Broadway style production of an original musical adaptation of "A Dickens' Christmas Carol," produced by Silver Dollar City, "The Living Nativity" and "Frosty." In addition there's Santa Claus at "Kringles Krossing," the creation of one-of-a-kind handmade gifts showcased by Silver Dollar City's demonstrating Master Craftsmen, and festive holiday foods offering the tastes of the holidays from traditional favorites such as turkey and dressing to a prime rib buffet.

Weather permitting, many of Silver Dollar City's rides and attractions such as Marvel Cave, The Grand Exposition, The GIANT Swing, Fire-In-The-Hole, WildFire® and PowderKeg® and others are available. The view of the park and its lights from the top of one of Wildfire's loops is as exciting as it is inspiring and unique.

An Old Time Christmas is an exciting, entertaining, spectacular and inspirational way to start your families celebration of Christmas. Its traditional celebration of the real meaning of Christmas has become an annual tradition for many who live in Branson as well as those who visit Branson.
